Europe is, by convention, one of the world’s six continents.

Comprising the western peninsula of Eurasia, Europe is generally divided from Asia to the east by the watershed of the Ural Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus and the Black Sea to the south-east.

It is the fourth most populous continent in the world after Asia, Africa and America, with 740 million inhabitants, about 11% of the world’s population and a multitude of languages.
