Albania

Albania, called Shqipëri/Shqipëria in Albanian, is a small mountainous country on the Balkan peninsula in south-eastern Europe.

It has a total area of 27 400 km² and a population of almost 3 million.

It is situated on the western edge of the Balkan peninsula, bordered to the north by Montenegro, to the northeast by Kosovo, to the east by North Macedonia and Greece, and to the south and west by the Adriatic Sea, across which lies Italy.

The official language is Albanian. Interestingly, it is estimated that about 53% of Albania’s population lives in urban areas, and only 25% live in the capital, Tirana.
