Cape Verde

Cape Verde, officially the Republic of Cape Verde, is an island country located in an archipelago in the central Atlantic Ocean, consisting of ten volcanic islands, nine of which are inhabited: Barlavento Islands (Boavista, Sal, S. Nicolau, S. Vicente, Santo Antão and Sta. Luzia – uninhabited) and Sotavento Islands (Brava, Fogo, Santiago and Maio). These islands are located at the westernmost point of mainland Africa. The islands of Cape Verde are part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Selvagens Islands.
