Croatia is a European country located in the Balkans, which borders with Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east and Montenegro to the south. It is also bordered to the west by the Adriatic Sea and has a maritime border with Italy at the Gulf of Trieste.
The country is a member of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Council of Europe and more recently, the European Union.
The capital is Zagreb and at least 10% of Croatia is a national park of exceptional beauty.
