Kazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental country, located in Central Asia, with a small part west of the Ural River in Europe. It is the ninth largest country in the world, the largest landlocked, with an area of 2 724 900 square kilometers.
Kazakhstan shares borders with Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and also holds a large part of the Caspian Sea. The country’s terrain includes plains, steppes, taiga, rock gorges, mountains, deltas, snow-capped mountains and deserts. It has an estimated 18.7 million inhabitants.
The capital of Kazakhstan is Astana and the symbol of the culture is the Snow Leopard, an animal that lives in alpine and subalpine areas of the country.
