Nepal, officially called the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country located between India to the east, south and west and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north. It has a total area of 147,181 square kilometers.
The relief of the country is largely composed of the high mountains of the Himalayan range, with several peaks of more than 6,000 meters in altitude, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth.
The country has several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, both cultural and natural, such as Kathmandu Valley (1979) and Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha (1997); Sagarmatha National Park (1979) and Chitwan Royal National Park (1984).
As a curiosity, the flag of Nepal is currently the only national flag in the world that does not have a quadrilateral shape.
