Namibia is a country in southwestern Africa, bordered to the north by Angola and Zambia, to the east by Botswana, to the south by South Africa and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean.
The country became independent from South Africa on March 21, 1990, following the Namibian War of Independence.
Having the Namib Desert along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, it has a diverse fauna, which includes a significant population of leopards and cheetahs.
The capital Windhoek and the coastal town of Swakopmund contain German colonial-era buildings such as the Windhoek Church of Christ, built in 1907.
In the north, the salt desert of Etosha National Park is home to numerous large animals, including rhinos, giraffes, lions and elephants.
